About CookChook

CookChook makes practical, free tools for people who run food businesses — food trucks, restaurants, caterers, bakeries and bars. Instead of generic articles, we build interactive calculators and live-data checkers that give you an answer based on your own numbers.

What we believe

• No signup, no friction. Every tool works instantly in your browser. You should never have to create an account to do a quick calculation.
• Your data stays yours. We don't store the numbers you enter. Tools run in your browser, and shareable links carry your inputs in the URL itself — not on a server.
• Useful over clever. A small number of tools we maintain carefully beats a thousand thin pages. Each tool is built to actually help you make a decision.

How our estimates work

Where a tool seeds default figures (for example, typical food-truck startup costs), those are general market estimates meant only as a starting point — not quotes or financial advice. We show ranges, label assumptions clearly, and expect you to replace them with real quotes from your own suppliers and local permitting offices.

How we keep the lights on
